6 Things that Easily Ruin Wired Earphones

Wireless has been one of the most sought-after features of many gadgets nowadays. Many people are opting for cordless because of its obviously convenient benefits. Nonetheless, wired is still in the game. Truthfully, it’s still preferred by a lot of people. Just take a look at wired earphones.

Although wireless earbuds have been a popularly used thing by many, all across the globe, wired earphones still have their special place in people’s hearts. Ask around. Most likely, more people are using wired earphones than those using wireless. If we’ll name a few reasons why, there goes superior safety and doubtless ease of use.

Even with the greatness of wire-free earbuds, wired versions are comparably safer to use since they don’t get lost or dropped to the ground once they go off your ears. They are faster and easier to access as well since you just have to plug the end of the wires to the audio jack; no need to connect the devices through Bluetooth and stuff like that. These are probably the major reasons why wired earphones are so much loved by users.

Nevertheless, when it comes to the possibility of getting quickly damaged, wired earphones can sometimes be on a rank higher than the wireless version. That’s because of the existence of wires, which are exposed and clearly prone to different damages. That’s why you have to take good care of them! The first step is by knowing what causes them to get wrecked. Know them, so you can avoid them, prevent them or at the very least, treat the issues if they’re already there.

Here are 6 things that easily ruin wired earphones.

1 – Accidentally pulling the wires

Surely the number one cause of damage in wired earphones is by accidentally pulling the wires. Whenever you are pulling them out of your bag or out of its case or when you unknowingly sit on the rest of the cords while holding the upper portion, you may accidentally pull out the wires. That may lead to them getting loose and even detached. Once the cords become floppy and unfastened, your wired earphones will show signs of sound lapses.

2 – Lying down with earphones on

Watching series and movies on your phone and listening to music while you surf the Net are often more comfortable when lying on your bed. It’s like that chilly evening when you decide to rest and enjoy de-stressing with your favorite online shows. You lie down and relish the moment.

However, lying down with earphones on is another big culprit of damaged wired earphones. There’s a huge tendency that the wires will get pulled out when you lie on them then suddenly stretch it out without knowing you are lying on them.

3 –  Sleeping with earphones on

Many people find it relaxing to sleep with music serenading their ears. It’s their key to sleeping quickly and calmly. Others do so because they want an instant alarm clock in the morning. Yet sleeping with earphones on is quite dangerous because you might lie down on and smash their housing, sleeves and ear tips. Besides wrecking the cords, breaking the earphone casing and internal wires is also a problem.

4 – Dropping the earphone heads

Wireless earbuds are more prone to dropping and getting cracked and faulty than wired earphones because once they slip off your ears, they can immediately be one with the floor. Regardless, wired earbuds can also get damaged by dropping the earphone heads to the ground or letting them hit a hard surface – that is when the wires are not yet organized and you have not yet pulled the earphones high enough, making them suddenly fall to the ground.

This can lead to crushed earphones or at least, very defective audio quality later on.

5 – Not putting them in a protective case

The best way to prevent gadgets from getting destroyed is by securing them inside safekeeping jackets and housings. It’s exactly the same thing with your wired earphones. That’s why not putting them in a protective case can open opportunities for mishaps to happen.

When you do not put them in their portable box or pouch, you are putting them in danger. If you just toss them inside your bag, insert them in your pocket, or let them scatter on your bed, you are not taking good care of your wired earphones. If liquids, like water, alcohol or perfume, in your bag leaks and flows to your wired earphones, then there’s nobody to blame but you. If pests crawl onto them and bite the wires, it’s not completely their fault.

6 – Keeping them tangled

Tangled wires of earphones are not only exasperating but also damaging to the earphones themselves. That’s because the cords are dislocated and kept that way for a long time. As the wires get often or constantly twisted and messed up, the wires can weaken too. They may not be able to perform their duty at their highest best.

WHY? WIRES?

Wired earphones are actually good and reliable, but their longevity still depends on your usage and care of them. So you can enjoy them for a happy long time, avoid doing the things that lead them to destruction. Why wires get easily ruined is also your call, so be responsible.
