IRCTC Ticket Booking- Process to Book Train Tickets 

Enrolled users can reserve train tickets online using the IRCTC website. Here is a step-by-step process of booking online Tickets by using the IRCTC portal: 

Step 1: Go to IRCTC’s website. Sign in to the website using your user id and password.

Step 2: Once signed in, feed details of your traveling station, destination station, and the date of travel. You can click on the Find Trains button. 

Step 3: After that, you will find an overall list of trains that operate between the source station and the destination station that you have chosen.

Step 4: Select the train, reservation quota, and class you are looking to travel in. Click on the button Check Fare & Availability. Then, you will receive the number of seats vacant on the train in the class of your preference for the day you have inquired for and the resulting 5 days. You would also obtain the ticket expense for a particular travel class.

At this phase, you have the choice to confirm the availability of seats in alternative journey classes and trains, and also verify next and earlier days’ seat status. Once you have confirmed the details, you can click on the Book Now button. 

Step 5: Furnish passenger information like name, berth choice, age, gender, etc. Insert additional passengers, if suitable. Likewise, if you have any stipulations such as a lower birth, handpicked coach, etc., tick those boxes as relevant to you. You have to agree to the T&C, insert the captcha text, and click on the Continue Booking button. 

Step 6: Recheck your bookings and ensure the information you have provided is accurate. If there are any changes, you can return to that page and make the required changes. 

Step 7: You have to make payment through your chosen mode like credit card, debit card, internet banking, online wallet, etc. 

Step 8: Once the payment is made, you will be provided with an online ticket or ERS (Electronic Reservation Slip) with seat numbers, coach numbers, and individual along with journey information. You will also receive an SMS and an e-mail on your phone number and email id.
